Meet the Assistant Director of HR at Lead Employer and find out how to get in touch.
On the launch of our new platform, where trainees and hosts are invited to chat with the Assistant Director of HR, we took the opportunity to speak to Catherine Lothian about her time at Lead Employer and her passion for improving the working lives of doctors, dentists and public health trainees.
The ‘Chat to Catherine’ contact form was launched this month as an alternative route for colleagues-in-training or hosts to raise an issue or concern that they feel cannot be remedied by approaching other team contacts. Catherine is proud of the Lead Employer’s consistent commitment to supporting all trainee and host queries and explains: “My hope is that everyone receives a high-quality service and that we get things right the first time, but I am here if anyone needs any further help or support.”
For those who have not had the chance to speak with Catherine, we wanted to re-introduce her as she talks about her supportive workforce and valued relationships.
She said: “I joined Lead Employer in late 2022 following several years in HR, medical staffing, and medical education across several organisations, including multi-site trusts, specialist community and mental health trusts.
“As the Assistant Director of HR for the Lead Employer, I am responsible for the strategic and operational running of Lead Employer. Supported by a senior leadership team, who have various portfolios, we spend our time trying to improve the working lives of all our colleagues in training.
“I really value our strong relationships with our Local Networking Committees in each region. These meetings are instrumental in ensuring that we capture the trainee environment, understand their needs, digest their feedback and work together to improve.”
