Removal Relocation and Excess Mileage Expenses
Lead Employer has recently moved to a new e-Expenses platform to claim for Excess Mileage. The roll-out of the new EASY Expenses System has replaced the paper claim process for Excess Mileage claims made from 1st August 2022.
All excess mileage claims for journeys made from 1st August 2022 will need to be submitted through the e-Expenses platform. User guides and FAQ’s for the new e-Expenses system can be found at Lead Employer - MWL | e-Expenses.
The framework sets out the arrangements for the payment of relocation and associated travel expenses for all colleagues-in-training. These expenses are processed by Lead Employer with the assistance of the owners of the framework, NHS England.
It is recognised that each region has different geography and travel systems, therefore there is some flexibility within each region to address this in terms of toll charges and public transport costs. This framework was introduced across England initially, for all colleagues-in-training that commenced in a training programme from 5th August 2020 and took affect for claims from 1st November 2020. At the request of the BMA and after further consultation, the framework was implemented for all colleagues-in-training in a training programme prior to August 2020, for claims made from 1st April 2021.
The purpose of the national framework is to ensure equality of treatment for trainees across all NHSE regions. By accepting a place on a training programme, you agree that your entitlement to reclaim expenses and removal costs will be subject to this framework. N.B. There is a very small number of colleagues-in-training that remain on a previous framework for Pennine and East Midlands with the agreement of NHSE. These frameworks are not applicable for any other trainee on a training programme.
