Collaborative Bank announces rebrand

The rebrand brings more opportunities

As the UK's largest Collaborative Bank, we are always looking for new ways to expand and offer more opportunities to our doctors in training. For those of you who already use the service to book and work additional bank shifts, you'll notice a change to our name. Formerly known as North West Doctors In Training Collaborative Bank, we are now NHS Collaborative Bank - MWL which recognises our ambitions to grow nationally and to support other organisations in the future.

For August and September new trainee starters, please read the following information to access bank shifts with the NHS Collaborative Bank. Any queries, please find our contact details at the end of the update. 

What is the current offering? 

• Bank shifts and additional hours in the North West available to all trainee doctors employed with Lead Employer
• Bank shifts and additional hours in Cheshire and Merseyside available to diagnostics trainees onboarded to the diagnostics only area of the bank

What are we planning next? 

• We are starting to look at working with partners to expand our support to Palliative Care organisations and NHS Trusts across all eight of the regions we serve.

The new name reflects the future plans to grow the Collaborative Bank and this meets the objectives highlighted in the NHS Long Term Workforce Plan to make the most effective use of temporary staffing by expanding collaborative banks and reducing reliance on expensive agency workers.

The bank’s vision three years ago was to establish a network of Collaborative Banks across England and Wales, comprising of high quality trainees who can be utilised to reduce agency spend, support workforce transformation and enable safe, effective care for patients – this still stands today.

The success of the Collaborative Bank model ran by MWL in partnership with Patchwork Health allows for the same platform to be used to expand this service without any major change.
